April is National Lawn Care Month

What is National Lawn Care Month?

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) observes the importance of lawns and their aesthetic and environmental benefits during National Lawn Care Month each April. PLANET and its members celebrate National Lawn Care Month by reminding consumers about the benefits of a healthy lawn.

April Fools'...Or Not!

Are we really in for more snow? Sit tight folks because believe it or not, the winter weather is shaping up to hit the northeast once again! Spring fever is resonating through all of us and the upcoming forecast sure puts a damper on things. Luckily it will only last for a short period of time and in many parts of the northeast it is primarily going to be rain, and you know what they say about that ‘April showers bring May flowers!’

Lawn Dawg attends New England Grows

Lawn Dawg Commercial Sales Representatives Joe Gaukstern and Bob Mann manned a booth on the trade show floor at New England Grows, the premier event for green industry professionals in the Northeast, February 2nd through the 4th.

A Day in the Life of a Branch Manager

We decided to give you an inside look on the typical day of one of our branch managers. During peak season, between March and April, branch managers typically arrive around 7am. They use this time to meet with their field staff, review production activities from the previous day and plan for the current day’s production. This includes identifying areas which can be improved upon and the overall performance of employees. Typically our branch managers set aside time in the morning to travel and meet with customers as well.

The Lawn Care Summit

As the season for applying lawn care services wraps up this week, things are busy here at Lawn Dawg in full planning stages for next season. Continued education and training for our certified lawn care technicians, radio spots and home shows are some of the exciting plans for 2011.

Lawn Dawg Donates to Local Boys & Girls Club

On Nov. 3rd, Lawn Dawg teamed up with other volunteers – Tim Boyle of Giant Landscaping and Chris Pestana with JP Pest Services – at the Boys & Girls Club in Manchester, NH, to provide donated services to the landscape of the building. These donated services are in support of the Debug the Myths campaign headed up by RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) ®. Lawn Dawg donated and applied a limestone treatment to 17,000 square feet of lawn. Limestone helps to balance soil pH which in turn improves fertilizer use, prevents thatch build-up, and improves weed control.

On the Road at the GIE-EXPO

This week a small group of employees from Lawn Dawg will be attending the largest industry conference in Louisville, Kentucky known as the GIE-EXPO. So what does GIE-EXPO mean? GIE-EXPO stands for Green Industry and Equipment Expo.
